Emilia Strong Sykes addresses trade policy and criticizes Vice President Vance on social media

U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who represents Ohio’s 13th district in Congress, shared several updates on her official Twitter account regarding recent political developments and trade policy.

On July 31, 2025, Rep. Sykes posted a brief message: "You didn’t hear it from us." Later that day, she criticized Vice President Vance’s actions related to a legislative decision affecting Ohioans. On July 31, 2025, she tweeted: "Vice President Vance continues to fumble each opportunity to stand up for Ohioans, including by being the tie-breaking vote for the Big Ugly Bill."

That evening, Rep. Sykes highlighted her visit to a local business and discussed upcoming changes in trade policy. In her post dated July 31, 2025, she wrote: "Today, Rep. Sykes visited this local business to talk with them about trade policy, as the president gets ready to implement a new round of tariffs tomorrow. Tariffs are a useful tool to level the playing field, and when properly implemented, they can create jobs and spur"

Rep. Emilia Sykes has served in the U.S. Congress since replacing Tim Ryan in 2023 as representative of Ohio’s 13th district (source: FACT 1). Before joining Congress, she was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 (source: FACT 2). Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there at age 37 (source: FACT 3), Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and the University of Florida (JD) (source: FACT 4).
