Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes highlights labor rights and infrastructure progress in Ohio’s 13th district

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district, recently used her social media platform to highlight labor achievements, local initiatives, and infrastructure progress in her district.

On September 1, 2025, Rep. Sykes posted a message recognizing Labor Day and the historical impact of the labor movement: "Happy Labor Day! Today, we celebrate the hard-fought achievements of the labor movement, like the 8-hour workday, workplace health and safety protections, and the weekend. As a member of the @Labor_Caucus, Rep. Sykes will continue to stand with workers today in the fight for https://t.co/6o9Ijzi21y".

Later that day, she reflected on her recent activities within Ohio’s 13th district: "Last week in #OH13, Rep. Sykes traveled around the district to highlight important issues like fighting government corruption, reproductive freedom, water infrastructure, accessible transportation, and more. On September 2, 2025, Rep. Sykes acknowledged progress on a significant public transit project supported by federal funding: "Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, METRO is nearing completion of a new Maintenance & Operations Facility. Rep. Emilia Sykes has represented Ohio’s 13th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there at age 37, she holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and a JD from the University of Florida.
