Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes reaffirms support for women’s rights and DWC policy agenda

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district, has reiterated her commitment to advancing women’s rights and supporting the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Better Future Policy Agenda through a series of social media posts.

The following day, August 1, she posted: "At a time when Republicans are cutting Medicaid and attacking reproductive health, Rep. Sykes remains committed to protecting and advancing women's rights through her support of the DWC’s Better Future Policy Agenda. https://t.co/m2JeIoKDdX".

In a subsequent post made on the same day, Rep. Sykes stated: "With the Better Future Policy Agenda, Rep. Sykes is working towards a future where women can thrive with economic security, accessible health care, and safety in every community."

Sykes has served as the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 13th District since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan. Prior to her current role in Congress, she was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there at age 37, Sykes holds a Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida.
