Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, shared a series of updates on her official Twitter account between July 25 and July 26, 2025.

On July 25, Sykes addressed the passing of a local law enforcement officer: "My heart breaks for Officer Phillip Wagner who tragically passed as a result of the injuries he sustained from this barbaric act of violence. My thoughts are with his loved ones and everyone whose lives he’s touched. I continue to pray for the swift and full recovery of Officers" (July 25, 2025).

The following day, Sykes commented on federal funding developments affecting local schools: "Rep. Sykes is pleased to see the Trump administration released critical school funding, following a letter she sent earlier this week. School districts in #OH13 are awaiting $7.5 million in frozen federal funds with just weeks to go before the school year begins. School" (July 26, 2025).

Later that same day, she marked an institutional milestone: "Happy 250th Anniversary to the @USPS! For centuries, the U.S. Postal Service has ensured that we receive our mail on time – whether that’s a friendly postcard, a condolence, or a holiday greeting, the USPS has made sure that we’re all connected." (July 26, 2025).

Sykes succeeded Tim Ryan as representative of Ohio's 13th district after his departure in 2023 and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and residing there today at age 37, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida.
