U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who serves Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, addressed several key issues in a series of posts on July 24, 2025.

At 21:34 UTC on July 24, she commented on recent violence against law enforcement in Lorain: "The shooting in Lorain is a heartbreaking and deeply troubling act of violence against law enforcement. I am praying for the three officers who were injured in the line of duty and holding their families and the entire Lorain community in my thoughts.

Sykes has represented Ohio's 13th district since replacing Tim Ryan in Congress in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there at age 37, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and the University of Florida (JD).
