Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district, has used her social media platform to comment on recent legislative developments, announce a constituent event, and celebrate local achievements.

On July 14, 2025, Rep. Sykes criticized a Republican-backed bill in Congress by stating: "Health care cuts to fund billionaire tax cuts. That's what this Republican reconciliation bill will deliver for the American people."

The following day, she invited constituents to participate in an upcoming event: "Join Rep. Sykes for a Call With Your Congresswoman on July 22 at 6 p.m. You will have the opportunity to learn more about how the Big Ugly Bill will impact #OH13, and also ask Rep. Sykes your own questions. RSVP at https://t.co/pAEf7GdsPN." This call aims to inform residents of Ohio’s 13th district about potential effects of current legislation and provide an opportunity for direct engagement with their representative.

Later that same day, Rep. Sykes congratulated a local resident on national recognition: "Congratulations to Copley native Carrie Coon on her third Emmy nomination! Her talent is an excellent example of why #OH13 is known as the #BirthplaceOfChampions!"

Rep. Emilia Sykes has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan and previously held office in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 through 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there, she holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and the University of Florida (JD).
