U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who serves Ohio’s 13th district in Congress, recently posted several updates on social media regarding constituent services, legislative issues, and local advocacy.
On July 15, Sykes addressed constituents about the Social Security Fairness Act, writing: "If you are owed money because of the Social Security Fairness Act, or are having any other problem with the Social Security Fairness Act, contact our office today! We can help contact the administration on your behalf to get you an answer. Call us today at 330-400-5350."
The following day, July 16, she invited followers to a live discussion about federal legislation: "Join Rep. Sykes TODAY at 2:30 p.m. on Instagram Live for the WTF Show to discuss why the Republicans’ reconciliation bill doesn’t follow through on its promises to middle class Americans."
Later that same day, Sykes highlighted her work supporting local infrastructure during a visit from airport representatives: "It was great to visit with representatives from the Akron-Canton Airport in D.C.! Rep. Sykes will continue to advocate for the airport as the Vice-Ranking member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. @TransportDems"
Sykes has represented Ohio’s 13th district since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan in Congress. She previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 and is originally from Akron, where she currently resides. Sykes holds a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and a law degree from the University of Florida.
