Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 13th district, shared several messages on July 4, 2025, highlighting her dedication to public service and community engagement. Sykes has been serving in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022.

On July 4, Rep. Sykes expressed her appreciation for Independence Day by stating "Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate the founding of our nation and the fundamental values it was built upon." She emphasized her commitment to ensuring freedom, equality, and justice for both the people of Ohio's 13th district and the nation as a whole.

Later that day, Rep. Sykes participated in a significant event in Norton where she joined city officials, veterans, and community members for the unveiling of the Norton Veterans Memorial. She remarked "Rep. Sykes was honored to join city officials, veterans, and community members in Norton today for the unveiling of the Norton Veterans Memorial." She underscored the importance of remembering and honoring those who sacrificed their lives for national independence.

Additionally, Rep. Sykes invited individuals with a passion for serving their community to consider interning with her office. Emilia Sykes is known not only for her political career but also as an Akron native born in 1986 who graduated from Kent State University with a BA and earned a JD from the University of Florida.
