Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 13th district, recently shared several updates via her social media platform, addressing both personal and community-focused topics.

On June 15, 2025, Rep. Sykes extended a heartfelt message on Father's Day to various father figures in her district. She wrote, "Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads, grandpas, uncles, and father-figures in #OH13! You all help to build a better future – one hug, lesson, and laugh at a time."

The following day, June 16, 2025, Rep. Sykes spoke on the House floor commemorating the 90th anniversary of Alcoholics Anonymous. She acknowledged its origins in Akron and praised its longstanding support for those dealing with alcohol addiction. In her tweet she stated: "Rep. Sykes spoke on the House floor to recognize the 90th anniversary of Alcoholics Anonymous, which was founded in Akron. For nine decades, this organization has provided hope, support, and community to those struggling with alcohol addiction."

Later that day, Rep. Sykes addressed educational opportunities for students from her district aspiring to join U.S. Military Service Academies. Her message included application details and a deadline reminder: "It is a tremendous honor to nominate students from #OH13 to attend a U.S. Military Service Academy. The deadline to submit an application for a nomination for the Class of 2030 is October 17, 2025. Call our office at 330-400-5350 with any questions."

Born in Akron in 1986 and having served previously in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 before replacing Tim Ryan in Congress in 2023, Emilia Sykes has been an active advocate for her constituents.
