Emilia Strong Sykes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 13th district, has been vocal on various issues through her social media platform. Having replaced Tim Ryan in 2023, Sykes has continued to advocate for legislative measures and community involvement.

On June 4, 2025, Sykes emphasized the necessity for Congress to pass the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act. She stated that this act would provide essential federal support and funding to address the nation's mental health crisis. Additionally, she highlighted that it includes her own Mental Health Improvement Act aimed at expanding mental health resources. "Congress must pass the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act, which would provide much-needed federal support and funding to address our country's mental health crisis."

Later that day, Sykes addressed the importance of civic engagement by asserting that democracy requires active participation from all citizens. She expressed that government should be representative of its people and encouraged everyone to voice their opinions for desired changes. "Democracy is a group project. Our government should be of, by, and for the people."

On June 5, 2025, Sykes took to social media again to commemorate World Environment Day by celebrating America's natural landscapes. She specifically mentioned Cuyahoga Valley National Park as an example of environmental beauty worth preserving for future generations. "Our country is home to some of the world’s most impressive natural landscapes."

Sykes has served in Congress since 2023 after a tenure in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron, Ohio in 1986, she holds a BA from Kent State University and a JD from the University of Florida.
