Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Ohio's 13th district, has made recent announcements on social media regarding her legislative efforts and positions on healthcare. The tweets reflect her ongoing commitment to supporting American manufacturing and ensuring access to affordable healthcare.

On May 15, 2025, Rep. Sykes highlighted her previous announcement of legislation at an event held at Bridgestone Tires in Akron, known as the Rubber Capital of the World. She stated that "Last year, Rep. Sykes announced this legislation at an event at Bridgestone Tires, right here in the Rubber Capital of the World! This legislation upholds that legacy for Akron and all of #OH13 by investing in American manufacturing to ensure this vital industry remains globally".

In a subsequent tweet on the same day, Rep. Sykes introduced the Tire Jobs, Supply Chain Security and Sustainability Act. She described its objectives: "Today, Rep. Sykes re-introduced the The Tire Jobs, Supply Chain Security and Sustainability Act. This legislation would create good-paying jobs, bolster our domestic supply chain, and promote economic growth by providing a tax credit to consumers who purchase retreaded tires."

Later that day, she expressed her stance on healthcare accessibility by stating: "All American families deserve access to affordable, quality health care and Rep. Sykes will always fight to protect that basic human right. In contrast, House Republicans are actively working to strip millions of families in #OH13 alone from their health care."

Emilia Sykes was born in Akron in 1986 and continues to reside there today. She has served Ohio’s 13th District since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan and previously represented constituents in the Ohio House from 2015 until 2022.
