Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congress member representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, shared several updates on her Twitter account on May 9, 2025. The posts highlighted achievements and upcoming events relevant to her constituents in Ohio.

On May 9, Rep. Sykes congratulated the Matrix M3 Indoor Percussion Ensemble for their victory at the WGI Finals in Dayton. She announced that the Akron-based group are now World Champions in the Scholastic Independent division. Her post read: "Congratulations to the Matrix M3 Indoor Percussion Ensemble, who took home gold at the WGI Finals in Dayton. The Akron-based group are now World Champions in the Scholastic Independent division!"

Later that day, she addressed transportation needs within her region by advocating for passenger rail services in the Akron-Canton area. In her tweet, she stated: "The Akron-Canton region deserves passenger rail and Rep. Sykes will not stop fighting until we get it. Passenger rail will bring jobs to our community and ensure we are better connected with the entire State of Ohio."

Additionally, Rep. Sykes invited future cadets to an Academy Day event co-hosted with Ohio’s U.S. Senators at Hudson City Hall on May 13 at 5 p.m., providing information about attending a U.S. Service Academy or joining ROTC programs in college. She tweeted: "Calling all future cadets! Rep. Sykes is co-hosting an Academy Day with Ohio’s U.S. Senators at Hudson City Hall at 5 p.m. on May 13."

Emilia Sykes has been serving as a U.S Congress member since replacing Tim Ryan in 2023 after previously serving in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022.
