Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, currently serving as a U.S Representative for Ohio’s 13th district, has recently shared her concerns regarding current legislative issues via social media. Her recent posts address both financial legislation and Black Maternal Health.

On April 10, 2025, Rep. Sykes invited her constituents to join her on the "WTF Show" happening the same day at 10 a.m. to discuss her objections to "new legislation that would allow banks to raise overdraft fees." The congresswoman is actively engaging her audience in a dialogue regarding financial policies affecting their daily lives.

Later the same day, Rep. Sykes emphasized her disapproval of a proposed bill on her social media account. She highlighted, "Groceries are expensive, housing costs are increasing, and Americans are hurting. Yet, House Republicans want to remove a rule that caps bank overdraft fees at $5." She expressed her commitment to tackling the cost of living by opposing the bill, which she identified as contrary to efforts against "costly junk fees."

On April 11, 2025, Rep. Sykes announced an engagement related to Black Maternal Health via Instagram Live, urging participation in a forum for "a discussion about Black Maternal Health." She noted that it was the inaugural day of Black Maternal Health Week, underscoring her dedication to addressing health disparities.

Emilia Sykes, originally from Akron, Ohio, took her congressional seat in 2023 after previously serving in the Ohio House of Representatives. She has a legal background with degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida. Rep.
