Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, who serves Ohio’s 13th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared several updates via her official platform. Sykes has represented her district since 2023, following her tenure in the Ohio House of Representatives.
On April 6, 2025, Sykes highlighted the upcoming "2025 Congressional Art Show & Awards Ceremony". In this event, "45 student artists from #OH13 will compete in the Congressional Art Show," offering them the opportunity to showcase their work in the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. for a year.
The following day, April 7, 2025, Sykes marked "#WorldHealthDay, which marks the anniversary of the day @WHO was established 77 years ago, and is the first day of National Public Health Week!" She encouraged individuals to "follow along all week to see some of the work Rep. Sykes is doing to keep our communities safe and healthy."
On April 8, 2025, Sykes addressed a financial concern related to social security, stating that "Social Security payments are often a recipient’s only source of income and denying someone their monthly income means they may be forced to skip meals, forgo buying essential medicine or lose their housing." She criticized holding seniors accountable for errors made by the Social Security Administration.
