On February 7, 2025, Rep. Sykes announced her involvement in legislative measures to safeguard personal data privacy. She stated: "Rep. Sykes is taking action to block unelected billionaire Elon Musk and DOGE from gaining unprecedented access to Americans' personal records. She cosponsored the Taxpayer Data Protection Act to protect you and your family's sensitive personal information."
