Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes highlights The O'Jays legacy and invites public engagement

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 13th district, recently shared a series of tweets highlighting the legacy of The O'Jays and her upcoming engagements. Rep. Sykes has been an active voice in her community since replacing Tim Ryan in 2023, following her tenure in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022.

On February 18, 2025, Rep. Sykes tweeted about The O'Jays, an R&B group from Canton formed in summer 1958. She noted that the original members included Eddie Levert, Walter Lee Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey, and Bill Isles. In another tweet on the same day, she highlighted The O'Jays' recognition by various prestigious institutions: inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2013. On February 19, Rep. Sykes invited her followers to join her on Instagram Live for the WTF Show scheduled for three consecutive nights starting that evening.
