Akron, Ohio  — At today’s press conference, Mayor Shammas Malik unveiled the City of Akron’s new snowplow tracker and dashboard available at AkronOhio.gov/SnowplowTracker. This site will include near real-time information about the city’s snow and ice operations as they are happening. The dashboard features the city’s snow and ice plan, response levels, street priorities, parking ban information, FAQs, and more.

When winter weather arrives, the site will be updated with real-time information including a snowplow tracker which will show if a truck has been on a street within the last hour, between 1-4 hours, between 4-12 hours, between 12-24 hours, or over 24 hours ago.

This will allow residents to see if their street has been pretreated prior to a winter weather event and follow up to see where crews are focusing their response. The dashboard explains the various response levels the city may be in depending on the severity of the weather and includes a map detailing the first, second, and third priority streets.

“I’m excited to launch this new snowplow tracker to better show our residents the outstanding work our crews do during a harsh winter weather event,” said Mayor Malik. “Having all this information in one place will better explain what is happening and where it’s happening throughout the city. A resident will be able to use this dashboard to determine what priority their street is, when the last time it was serviced during a storm, if there is any parking ban they need to be aware of, and it will allow them to enter a service request if needed directly through the dashboard. I want to thank our IT Department and especially our GIS team for their incredible work creating this dashboard as well as our Service crews for all their help filling out the dashboard with information. This was truly a team effort and I think residents will appreciate the end-product during the next winter storm.”

Any issues with the dashboard can be reported through 3-1-1.
