Akron, Ohio—The City of Akron leaf removal will begin Monday, October 30 in Ward 5. Each ward takes multiple days to complete. Signs will be posted in the various wards prior to pick-up dates. We’d like to remind residents not to rake their leaves into the street until the day before their scheduled pick-up. Crews will be out training this week but that will not impact the schedule.

For residents wishing to have leaves removed before or after their scheduled pick-up date, the City offers three free curb service bulk pick-ups per year. The leaves must be bagged for early pick-up. To schedule, please contact 3-1-1 or (330) 375-2311.

The schedule is as follows:

2023 Leaf Removal Schedule

Ward 5           October 30

Ward 3           November 1

Ward 6           November 3

Ward 10         November 7

Ward 4          November 10

Ward 8           November 16

Ward 2           November 25

Ward 1            November 29

Ward 7           December 2

Ward 9           December 6

We ask residents to adhere to the following guidelines so leaf removal can be safe and effective:

  • Do not allow children to play in leaves on or near the street
  • Do not place branches or any other debris in the street – only leaves
  • Do not rake leaves into the street after the removal has taken place or you may be subject to a fine
  • Do not park vehicles on the street the day before pick-up or until your leaves have been removed
  • Do not park vehicles over the pile of leaves because heat from the underside of the vehicle may cause a fire
  • Rake leaves within two feet of the curb the day before scheduled collection to help keep leaves from collecting in storm sewers
All the wards will take more than one day to complete. Please have your leaves on the street by the date listed or they may not get picked up. Be aware that the schedule is subject to change if adverse weather conditions prohibit removal. If there is a change to the schedule, it will be posted on our social media channels and the leaf removal page on the website. For more information regarding leaf removal, please visit Leaf Removal Program on the City website or call 3-1-1 or (330) 375-2311.
