Our Be SMART campaign raises awareness about secure gun storage (storing guns locked, unloaded, and separate from ammunition) and emphasizes how it can save children’s lives.

Here's why gun safety around children is important: 4.6 million children in America live in homes with guns that are both loaded and unlocked. 350 children 17 and under gain access to a firearm and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else—sometimes fatally.Nearly 700 children 17 and under die by suicide with a gun each year.

Be SMART highlights that it’s an adult's responsibility to prevent children from accessing guns and that EVERY adult can play a role in keeping their kids and community safer. This is not a stance regarding the right to bear arms, but rather an endorsement for gun safety!
