Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, has recently highlighted her legislative priorities and constituent services through a series of posts on social media.
On August 27, 2025, Sykes emphasized her commitment to assisting constituents with federal agencies and programs. She stated, "Rep. Sykes’ number one priority is serving you – the people of #OH13. That requires offering top-notch constituent services.

In a subsequent post dated August 28, 2025, Sykes criticized a Republican budget proposal she argues would negatively impact working families in her district while benefiting the wealthiest Americans. She wrote, "The Republican’s budget will increase costs for everyday Americans in #OH13. Meanwhile, the richest 1% will see an average annual tax cut of $314,266. Rep. Sykes fights everyday in Congress for you, not billionaires, which is why she opposes this harmful, partisan budget."
Later that same day, Sykes reported on local environmental efforts alongside state and federal officials: "Rep. Sykes was happy to join @GovMikeDeWine, @RepShontelBrown, @EPA , and other local officials to kick-off the long anticipated clean up and removal of the Gorge Dam. Rep Sykes looks forward to seeing the recreation and enjoyment that will come from a free-flowing Cuyahoga".
Sykes has represented Ohio's 13th District since replacing Tim Ryan in Congress in 2023; before that she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there at age 37, she holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and the University of Florida (JD).
