Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, has recently used her social media platform to address issues of government accountability, constituent services, and economic policy.

On August 20, 2025, Rep. Sykes posted: "When public officials use their power for personal gain and are shielded from accountability, democracy itself is undermined.

On August 21, 2025, Rep. Sykes criticized recent legislation she referred to as the “Big Beautiful Bill,” stating: "Unless you’re planning to buy your second luxury yacht, the so-called Big Beautiful Bill is an ugly piece of legislation that transfers your wealth to the richest people in the country. https://t.co/g3cQNsfoTN".

Rep. Sykes began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Tim Ryan and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. She was born in Akron, Ohio in 1986 and continues to reside there. Her academic background includes a BA from Kent State University and a JD from the University of Florida.
