U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who represents Ohio’s 13th district in Congress, has recently posted several updates on her official social media account addressing legislative concerns and constituent information.
On August 16, 2025, Rep. Sykes shared a critical message regarding recent federal policy changes, stating: "We'll go first:
Largest wealth transfer from the middle class to billionaires in history
Kicks thousands of Americans off their health care
Puts 98,000 at risk of going hungry in #OH13
Increases the national debt by $3.4 trillion".
Two days later, on August 18, 2025, she reminded constituents about an upcoming deadline for nominations: "Don’t forget! The deadline to submit applications for a nomination for the Class of 2030 is October 17, 2025. Call our office at 330-400-5350 with any questions."
Later that same day, Rep. Sykes highlighted her efforts alongside Rep. Joe Neguse and other colleagues to promote anti-corruption legislation: "Earlier this year, Rep. Sykes and @RepJoeNeguse joined colleagues in introducing different pieces of anti-corruption legislation to make sure that elected employees are working for the people who allowed them to get into office."
Emilia Sykes began serving as U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 13th District in 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan. Before joining Congress, she was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 and previously served as Minority Leader during part of her tenure. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and the University of Florida (JD).
