Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, has used her social media platform to highlight recent legislative priorities and community engagements.
On August 11, 2025, Rep. Sykes addressed tax policy for seniors in a post stating, "While we can all agree a tax cut for seniors is great, it is not permanent like the tax cuts for billionaires. Rep. Sykes will not stop fighting for seniors in #OH13."
The following day, she shared details of a visit to Grace House in Akron: "Rep. Sykes visited Grace House in Akron, a comfort care home that provides an accepting, caring environment for individuals with terminal illnesses who would otherwise spend their days without a caregiver." This reflects her ongoing involvement with local organizations supporting vulnerable populations.
Later on August 12, Sykes highlighted the significance of Cuyahoga Valley National Park: "As Ohio’s only national park, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park preserves thousands of acres of our beautiful community, including the winding Cuyahoga River, dense forest, and open farmland.
Rep. Sykes wishes the park, its staff, and all who enjoy it continued success for"
Sykes has represented Ohio’s 13th District since replacing Tim Ryan in Congress in 2023 and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born and residing in Akron since her birth in 1986 at age 37, she holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and the University of Florida (JD).
