Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, who represents Ohio’s 13th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to update constituents on community engagement and legislative efforts.
On July 22, 2025, Sykes announced an upcoming constituent event: "We're getting ready to start our Call With Your Congresswoman! We'll be dialing out shortly, looking forward to speaking with you all!"
The following day, Sykes paid tribute to a late colleague on the House floor. On July 23, she posted: "Rep. Sykes honored her colleague, mentor, and dear friend, Jack Cera on the House floor. The late Representative Cera passed away on July 13th after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
'Jack had a motto of ensuring that he left things better than he found it.'"
Later that same day, Sykes highlighted recent legislative progress affecting her district: "The Akron Beacon Journal covered Rep. Sykes has served as U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 13th District since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan. She previously held office in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 and is known for her roots in Akron, where she was born in 1986 and currently resides. Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida.
