Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, has been active on social media discussing various topics. Her recent tweets address religious celebrations, healthcare rights, and community achievements.

On June 6, 2025, Rep. Sykes extended her wishes for the Muslim holiday with a message of peace and joy: "Eid Mubarak! Wishing you and your families an Eid of reflection, togetherness, peace, and joy."

Later that day, she commented on a controversial policy change by the Trump Administration regarding healthcare rights: "Access to emergency health care, including abortion, is a basic right under law. The Trump Administration’s decision to rescind guidance that affirms this right is disturbing and in line with their efforts to cut essential health care programs like Medicaid." She expressed concern over these developments.

On June 8, 2025, Rep. Sykes recognized Lisa Gissendaner as "Champion of the Week" for her contributions as Canton Program Coordinator for the Young Scholars Program: "This week, Rep. Sykes named Lisa Gissendaner the Champion of the Week for #OH13! Lisa has left a meaningful impact on countless youth in our community." This acknowledgment came as Gissendaner retired from her impactful role.

Emilia Sykes was born in Akron in 1986 and continues to reside there. She graduated from Kent State University with a BA and earned her JD from the University of Florida before serving in both state and national legislative bodies.
