Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 13th district, has shared her views on significant issues via social media posts. On June 2, 2025, she addressed topics ranging from gun violence to tariff policies and immigrant heritage.

On June 2, 2025, Rep. Sykes commemorated a tragic event that occurred a year prior in Akron. "One year ago today, Akron was devastated by a shooting that killed one and left 28 injured." She highlighted her previous efforts on the House floor advocating for action against gun violence during National Gun Violence Awareness Month.

In another post on the same day, Sykes mentioned outreach from EarthQuaker Devices regarding trade policies. "EarthQuaker Devices reached out to Rep. Sykes to sound the alarm about how the Trump administration’s reckless tariff policies are harming small business." She emphasized the negative impact of inconsistent tariff strategies on local manufacturing.

Finally, celebrating #ImmigrantHeritageMonth on June 2, Sykes expressed pride in recognizing immigrant contributions within her constituency. "America is a nation of immigrants." Her acknowledgment highlights her support for diverse communities in Ohio's 13th district.

Emilia Sykes has been an active representative since succeeding Tim Ryan in 2023. Born in Akron in 1986 and educated at Kent State University and the University of Florida, she has dedicated herself to public service both locally and nationally since starting her political career in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 until moving to Congress.
