Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congress representative for Ohio's 13th district, shared her perspectives on various issues through a series of tweets on May 22, 2025. Her statements touched upon recent legislative actions, travel advisories, and local economic concerns.

On May 22, 2025, Sykes criticized the actions of House Republicans in passing a budget bill. She stated that "In the middle of the night, House Republicans jammed through their budget bill that will kick millions of Americans off their health insurance, take food off families’ tables, and raise costs for the middle class, all to give large tax breaks to billionaires."

Later that day, she provided travel advice to constituents planning summer trips. In her tweet at 20:20 UTC, she advised travelers to "Apply for your passport soon to ensure you get it in time for your travel. Remember, you can also use a passport to fly domestically if you don’t have a Real ID."

Sykes also highlighted economic challenges faced by EarthQuaker Devices, a business located in Ohio's 13th district. She expressed concern over tariff policies affecting local manufacturing jobs in her tweet posted at 23:54 UTC: "EarthQuaker Devices is an important local business in #OH13 that provides good paying jobs for our neighbors and is a shining example of strong American manufacturing. But today, they are facing devastating consequences. Why? Because of reckless tariff policies."

Emilia Sykes has been serving in Congress since replacing Tim Ryan in 2023. Prior to this role, she was part of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 until 2022. Born and residing in Akron, Ohio since her birth in 1986, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida.
