Sykes, who succeeded Tim Ryan in 2023, has a history of service in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 and resides in Akron, Ohio.

On January 27, 2025, Rep. Sykes expressed pride in aiding the Greater Akron Chamber in securing federal funds aimed at job creation and fostering innovation within the community. She stated: "Rep.
