Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congress member representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, shared updates on recent initiatives and developments in her district through social media posts. Her communications highlight educational opportunities for young women, funding for school safety programs, and financial benefits for Medicare beneficiaries.

On November 23, Rep. Sykes announced an event aimed at empowering young women in science and technology: "Join Team Sykes for our upcoming Girls in S.T.E.A.M. App Building Bootcamp! The event is open to all middle school girls in #OH13." The bootcamp encourages participation from middle school girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

Two days later, on November 25, she reported significant funding awarded by the Department of Justice: "Rep. Sykes recently announced that the DOJ awarded $652,707 to Walsh University and Canton City Schools for the Canton City Middle School Violence Intervention and Prevention Program." This grant aims to bolster resources available to public schools within her district.

Also on November 25, Rep. Sykes highlighted savings projected under the Inflation Reduction Act: "Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, 39,000 Medicare beneficiaries in #OH13 are projected to save a total of $10.6 million in out-of-pocket costs for their prescription medications this year." She emphasized her commitment to reducing costs for Americans across various sectors.
