On December 8, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Summit County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a suspect with active arrest warrants who was observed entering an apartment in Coventry Township. In addition, it was believed the residents had protection orders against the suspect. The suspect was identified as Bradley Folden, age 33 of Coventry Township.
After Sheriff’s deputies arrived, Folden forced a woman and her two minor children into a restroom. The victims made numerous attempts to contact people in an effort to get rescued from the residence.
The Summit County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T Team and Hostage Negotiators responded to the scene. Negotiators made numerous attempts to communicate with Folden but were unable to make contact. S.W.A.T. operators entered the home and found Folden in the restroom with all three of the victims. Folden was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Summit County Jail.
Bradley Folden has been charged with three counts of Kidnapping (F-1), three counts of Violating a Protection Order (F-3), Possessing a Weapon While Under Disability (F3), and Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order (F-3).
The Coventry Fire Department evaluated all of the victims and they were released on scene.
