Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker, PE, PS would like to alert residents and motorists of the immediate closure of the Christman Road Bridge over the Nimisila Reservoir in the City of Green. County and consulting engineer inspectors have been evaluating the load limited bridge often to measure deterioration ahead of the planned bridge replacement project to take place in 2023. Rapid deterioration has necessitated the complete closure of the bridge until it can be replaced.
The County has received grant funding from the County Engineer’s Association Local Bridge Program for the bridge replacement. In addition, the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has enabled the construction costs to be 100% funded with federal dollars. Design plans are in progress and the County has requested the engineering firm performing the design to expedite the project. Since the funds are available in state fiscal year 2023, which begins July 1, 2022, SCE will work to get the project construction started as soon as possible, no later than in the spring of calendar year 2023.
The detour route will involve Mount Pleasant Road, Arlington Rd, and Killinger Road.
