Hudson Public Power customers may see an increase in their April electric bills. What is the driver behind the increases? Several transmission lines that deliver the power from generation plants across the grid to Northeast Ohio have been out of service due to both planned and unplanned outages and maintenance. The cost to reroute this power has resulted in the increased delivered cost of the power. Increased costs are expected to return to more normal levels from May through the rest of 2022.
These increases in transmission costs are being felt throughout the region. The industry also continues to see soaring natural gas and market electric prices across the board, adding to the costs to provide electricity across the grid.
