Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district, posted a series of updates on her official Twitter account highlighting recent federal funding for local infrastructure, legislative efforts regarding the Epstein Files, and community recognitions.
On September 12, 2025, Rep. Sykes announced the allocation of federal resources to support regional transportation: "Rep. Sykes recently helped secure over $1.1 million in federal funding that will be used to make improvements at the Akron-Canton Regional Airport. CAK is an important economic driver in Northeast Ohio, and these funds will ensure this airport can continue to grow and serve our".
Later that same day, she addressed ongoing national interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case: "The survivors of Jeffrey Epstein deserve closure. Rep. Sykes signed onto the discharge petition to force a vote to release the Epstein Files. All we need is one more signature."
On September 13, 2025, Rep. Sykes recognized two local leaders for their contributions: "Congratulations to May Chen and Mary Ann Freedman for their induction into the Ohio Department of Aging’s Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, and for being named the Champions of the Week for #OH13! Thank you for dedicating your careers and talents to bettering our community."
Rep. Emilia Sykes has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Tim Ryan as representative for Ohio’s 13th district. Prior to her current role, she was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University (BA) and the University of Florida (JD).
