U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who serves Ohio’s 13th district, recently highlighted several community initiatives and achievements through her official social media account.
On September 9, 2025, Sykes invited constituents to an upcoming event aimed at assisting those needing help with federal agencies. She posted: "Need help with a federal agency? Join Team Sykes on September 23 at the Jackson Community Branch Library for Congress in Our Community! Sign up at https://t.co/pAEf7Ge0Fl. https://t.co/zJia6EZBpp".
Later that same day, she expressed gratitude to local students participating in a reading initiative. In her post dated September 9, 2025, Sykes wrote: "Thank you to the over 250 students who participated in the 2025 Congressional Readers Club for #OH13! Rep. Sykes had a great time celebrating all of your reading with the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library. https://t.co/Gbs1LDxBJ0".
On September 10, 2025, Sykes announced significant federal funding secured for local transit infrastructure. She stated: "Rep. Sykes is thrilled to have secured a $37,808,113 grant for METRO to build a new Maintenance and Operations Facility to help support the great work they do for our community. These funds will help ensure that METRO can continue providing excellent service for generations to".
Sykes has represented Ohio’s 13th congressional district since replacing Tim Ryan in 2023 and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there, she holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida.
