Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes highlights education and workforce initiatives across Ohio’s 13th district

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district since 2023, has recently highlighted educational and workforce development initiatives in her district through a series of social media posts.

On September 8, 2025, Sykes posted about programs available for K-12 students in her district: "Rep. Sykes has programs for all K-12 students in #OH13. No matter your student’s age or interests, we have a place for them! Learn more at https://t.co/pAEf7Ge0Fl. https://t.co/No1Ogzl2eX".

Later that evening, she shared her experience visiting local organizations: "Great things are happening in Barberton, and Rep. Sykes was happy to visit the Barberton Community Foundation, BWX Technologies, and the Akron Rubber Development Lab to learn about the workforce development initiatives they are leading. These local initiatives will help ensure https://t.co/2x31uKcYKz" (September 8, 2025).

On September 9, 2025, Sykes addressed the ongoing redistricting process in Ohio: "As the redistricting process plays out, Rep. Sykes hopes that legislators in both parties work together to put forward a map that allows voters to choose their elected officials and not the other way around."

Sykes has represented Ohio's 13th District since succeeding Tim Ryan in Congress in 2023. Before joining Congress, she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022 and was born and currently resides in Akron, Ohio. She holds a BA from Kent State University and a JD from the University of Florida.
