Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes discusses golf history and education funding concerns

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 13th district, has been actively engaging with her constituents through social media platforms. Her recent tweets cover a range of topics from celebrating historical achievements in sports to addressing current educational funding concerns.

On March 20, 2025, Rep. Sykes highlighted the accomplishments of a pioneering black woman golfer: "She became the second black woman to compete in the LPGA tour in 1967. Powell’s impressive career spanned over 250 professional events and in 2017, she was inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame. Post-retirement, Powell resides as head pro at her father’s Clearview Golf".

Later that day, Rep. Sykes invited her followers to join her on Instagram live for an interactive session: "Join Rep. Sykes TODAY at 5 p.m. for the WTF Show on Instagram live. Rep. Sykes will be answering more of your questions from the Community Conversation she hosted this week in Akron."

In another tweet posted on March 20, 2025, Rep. Sykes expressed concern over proposed changes affecting educational resources: "What the president is attempting to do is take away invaluable resources from kids in #OH13 and across the country. The Department of Education provides all public school revenue in the state of Ohio, including funds for early learning and preschool, special needs programs and".
