Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes shares updates on local initiatives and legislative efforts

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congress member representing Ohio's 13th district since 2023, has recently shared updates on her initiatives and engagements via social media. Sykes, who succeeded Tim Ryan and previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022, continues to be active in legislative and community activities.

On March 12, Rep. Sykes celebrated the Girl Scouts' 113th birthday by highlighting her role in securing $850,000 in federal funds for the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) STEM Center of Excellence as part of the 2024 federal budget. "Happy 113th birthday to the Girl Scouts! As part of the 2024 federal budget, Rep. Sykes helped secure $850,000 in federal funds for the @GSNEO STEM Center of Excellence."

Later that day, she called upon high school students from Ohio's 13th district to participate in the upcoming Congressional Art Competition. The deadline for submissions is March 24. " Calling all artists! Rep. Sykes encourages all high school students in #OH13 to participate in the 2025 Congressional Art Competition."

In another post dated March 13, Rep. Sykes expressed her support for a four-week funding extension aimed at preventing harmful cuts and keeping government operations ongoing while allowing time for a bipartisan funding agreement. "House Democrats stand united for a four-week funding extension that stops harmful cuts..."
