Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes addresses education concerns amid local engagements

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio's 13th district, shared updates on her recent activities and concerns through a series of tweets this week.

On February 8, Rep. Sykes highlighted her engagement with local leaders in Ohio's 13th district and her efforts in Washington D.C., stating, "This week, Rep. Sykes spent some time in #OH13 meeting with local leaders, and traveled to DC to fight for our community in Congress." She encouraged constituents to sign up for her newsletter for regular updates.

Later the same day, she expressed opposition to proposals from the Trump Administration and Elon Musk regarding the Department of Education. On February 8, she tweeted, "Eliminating the Department of Education would hurt Ohioans. Rep. Sykes will fight against efforts by the Trump Administration and Elon Musk to take away invaluable resources from our students, parents, and teachers."

On February 10, Rep. Sykes paid tribute to James Ingram, an acclaimed R&B artist from Akron. She noted his contributions to music with a tweet stating that "James Ingram was a Grammy award-winning R&B singer, songwriter and producer who topped Billboard charts throughout the 1980s and 1990s."
