On November 18, 2024, Rep. Sykes shared her activities over the past week, stating: "This week, Rep. Sykes celebrated Veterans Day at the City of Green Veterans Day Ceremony, helped pass legislation that will expand Social Security benefits for public service employees, and announced over $6.65 million in federal funding."

Later on the same day, she announced a significant investment aimed at environmental sustainability: "Rep. Sykes recently announced $2 million for the University of Akron to complete a study that will focus on recycling plastics and other polymers from electric vehicle battery packs, to prevent the materials from polluting landfills."
