Akron, Ohio — On May 4, the City of Akron’s Engineering team in charge of Plans and Permits announced they will be upgrading the public access portal, plan review, and permitting software. This upgrade will begin on May 15, with a completion date of May 24.  During this time, access to the public portal will be restricted.  New plan reviews will not be accepted and submissions prior to this date may be delayed.

During the week of May 15 through 19, Plans and Permits will still issue approvals, permits, accept fees, and perform inspections for projects that have been completed or permits that do not require plan review.  On May 22 and 23,, only inspections that are scheduled in advance will be done.  Full access to the public portal will be restored on May 24 and office operations will resume as normal.

Notable upgrades with the new portal include:

  • A clearer format for providing the minimum required information on plan reviews.
  • The ability to see which City Departments are reviewing and if that department has approved or rejected the submission.
  • The ability to pay online via PayPal.
