Council Accepting Applications for Boards and Commissions

City Council is currently accepting applications for openings on the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals, the Environmental Awareness Committee, and the Hudson Community Television Advisory Committee. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 23.

What is the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals?

The Board of Zoning and Building Appeals acts on requests for variances from zoning regulations and on certain appeals from the Architectural and Historic Board of Review, Planning Commission, and administrative decisions. The Architectural and Historic Board of Review, Board of Zoning and Building Appeals, and Planning Commission work together, as necessary, for all building and zoning projects.

What is the Environmental Awareness Committee?

The Environmental Awareness Committee (EAC) serves to educate and advise residents on environmental issues such as recycling, storm water, beautification, stream & wetlands clean-up and water & energy efficiency. The EAC promotes these topics through events such as Green on the Green and as the Hudson affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. Efforts to educate residents on storm water include a rain garden at Barlow Community Center, the rain barrel art program, and rain barrel workshops.

What is the Hudson Community Television (HCTV) Advisory Committee?

The HCTV Advisory Committee was established to assist the station manager in defining goals and objectives of public, educational, and governmental access to cable television and to explore funding sources for programs.

The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 23. To qualify, applicants must have been a Hudson resident for at least two years prior to the appointment and remain a resident during the entire term. Only registered voters will be considered for the openings.
