Former Flash Mackenzie Hughes Collects Second PGA Tour Win

Mackenzie Hughes closed out a momumental weekend with a bang on Sunday, sinking a birdie in a playoff of the 18th hole against Sepp Straka to claim victory in the Sanderson Farms Championship.

The former Flash was in rare form on Friday, using nine birdies to finish the second round nine strokes under par. Hughes maintained that excellence throughout the weekend, rising to the top of the 78-player field that made the weekend cut.

"I felt pretty good coming into this week," Hughes said in a post-tournament press conference. "I got off to a so-so start on Thursday but Friday I found a nice rhythm and once I put myself in the mix I felt like I was going to stay there."

For Hughes, the battle for a second PGA Tour victory was every bit as much mental as it was physical.

"I've been working really hard on the mental side of things to instill that belief in myself," Hughes said. "I tell myself a lot of things throughout the day and really try to overdo the positive self talk and I used that a lot today."

Hughes' first PGA Tour win came in 2016-17 when he claimed victory in the RSM Classic.

The Tour will continue this week at the Shriners Childrens Open in Las Vegas, NV
