The City of Green Partners With Faith Community to Present Crisis Awareness Sunday

16

The City of Green’s Drug Task Force has partnered again with our faith community to present Crisis Awareness Sunday. On May 1, 2022, we will have a day of awareness, hope, and impact as an individual, a church, and a community. Various churches in the Green area will be participating by adjusting their sermons to raise awareness of the issue of drug and alcohol abuse.

Participating Churches:

  • Maranatha Bible Church - 1424 Killian Rd, Akron, OH 44312
  • The Chapel, Green - 1800 Raber Rd, Uniontown, OH 44685
  • Temple Baptist - 1212 Greensburg Rd, Uniontown, OH 44685
  • Queen of Heaven Church - 1800 Steese Rd, Uniontown, OH 44685
  • East Liberty Church of the Nazarene – 700 E Turkeyfoot Lake Rd, Akron, OH 44319
Through this coordinated effort, the church leaders are raising awareness about the drug and alcohol epidemic that is becoming more and more prevalent in Northeast Ohio. The hope is to have open conversations about addiction in order to have productive advancement toward ending this epidemic.

The goal of this event is to destigmatize addiction and to point their congregation and community members to resources for help. This gives them a simple start that they can take immediately to combat prescription drug use.

Deterra Drug Deactivation System bags, provided by Summit County Community Partnership, will be given to attendees to encourage proper disposal of prescription medications. Receiving this free disposal bag will make it easier for individuals to clean out their medicine cabinets safely and will also limit/deter misuse of these drugs.

Together we can make a difference! Join the City of Green's Drug Task Force and the local faith community in rising together against drugs and alcohol through Crisis Awareness Sunday.
