City of Akron issued the following announcement on March 9
The Mark Heffernan/Margaret Judge Divisions of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, in association with the City of Akron, present the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 12. The parade will kick-off at noon, beginning at Cedar/Main and moving northbound on South Main Street to Bowery Street in downtown Akron.
Line-up will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of S. Main St. between Bartges St. and Cedar St. At 11:50 a.m., S. Main St. will close entirely between Bartges St. and Mill St. The road will reopen no later than 1:30 pm.
The parade will feature high school and grade school bands, non-profit organizations, businesses, animal groups, floats, and more. The Grand Marshall this year is Mrs. Pat Orlando and Mayor Horrigan will be the guest emcee at the review stand.
After the parade, the All-American Judges Association will give awards to participants at Lock 3. Parking will be available in the O’Neil’s Parking Deck.
Following the awards ceremony, the Ancient Order of Hibernians will sponsor a celebration at their AOH Clubroom, located at 2000 Brown St. The celebration will feature entertainment by Akron’s finest Irish talent and typical Irish fare.
