Cleveland Clinic Akron General issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
We have so many caregivers and heroes stepping up to serve our patients and community during the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to spotlight an unsung hero, Rachel Becht, Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department in our Green Health and Wellness Center.
Rachel took on the role of starting and running Akron General’s two COVID-19 testing sites, one at the Health and Wellness Center in Green and another on South Broadway in Downtown Akron.
“I was luckily able to hire five additional staff members and two lead nurses who have helped me tremendously in the two testing sites,” Rachel says. “They are awesome. The team is fun and energetic and celebrates each other during these times. They are so proud of what they do. They feel like they are making a huge difference, and they are. They are so needed.”
Rachel’s teams have the testing down to science and are doing about 300-350 tests a day between the two sites.
“I truly feel like this is my calling, my COVID calling, and I feel like this is my purpose to run these testing centers,” she says.
