Summa Health issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.
Summa Health’s Akron Campus Family Medicine Residency program is celebrating 50 years of training physicians. In 1970, Dr. Ed Shahady helped establish Summa Akron City Hospital’s Family Medicine Residency Program, one of the first in the country. On November 13, the Akron Campus Family Medicine Residency Program will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the more than 300 graduates of the program and seven program directors, with a virtual event.
November 13 has also been designated as Summa Family Medicine Residency Program Day in the city of Akron and Summa Family Medicine Residency Program Day in Summit County
