U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who represents Ohio’s 13th district in Congress, highlighted her ongoing policy priorities in a series of posts on September 16 and 17, 2025. The tweets addressed issues ranging from early childhood education to healthcare access and constitutional rights.

On September 16, Rep. Sykes wrote about the impact of Head Start programs on families: "Through supporting the healthy development of children and ensuring they are set up to be successful in kindergarten and beyond, Head Start lowers childcare costs for parents and guardians, helping parents get into the workforce and secure opportunities that otherwise may be" (posted September 16, 2025).

The following day, she referenced her legislative experience establishing food farmacies in Ohio: "Rep. Sykes knows food farmacies work because, as a state legislator, she created a grant program to fund the establishment of food farmacies in Ohio and has seen the positive impact they can have on patients battling chronic illness.

She is excited to continue this work in https://t.co/GP9s3U6PNj" (posted September 17, 2025).

Later that day, Rep. Sykes marked Constitution Day with a message about defending American principles: "On this day in 1787, the United States Constitution was signed. In the face of unprecedented attacks on our rights and freedoms, Rep. Sykes is committed to upholding our Constitution and defending American values. https://t.co/mZbWnZ1qW5" (posted September 17, 2025).

Sykes has represented Ohio's 13th district since succeeding Tim Ryan in Congress in 2023. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida.
