On January 24, 2025, Rep. Sykes informed constituents that “The 2025 Tax Season begins this Monday, 1/27. If you need assistance filing your taxes this year, the IRS has programs to assist tax filers.” She encouraged individuals needing help to visit the IRS website for more information.
On January 27, 2025, she marked a significant historical anniversary by stating “Today marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and International Holocaust Remembrance Day.” Rep. Sykes emphasized the importance of learning from history amid rising antisemitism globally.
Later that day, she celebrated local educators by announcing “Congratulations to Rick Cardinal and Wendi Damm on being named #OH13 Champions of the Week!” These Barberton High School educators were recognized for their contributions to STEM education through earning the Gene Easter Award.
