The following day, March 4, 2025, she commented on a protest held outside the Cleveland VA Medical Center against mass layoffs by the Trump Administration. The layoffs affected employees providing care for veterans across various roles including surgeons, nurses, cafeteria workers, and security guards “Yesterday, employees and supporters gathered outside the Cleveland VA Medical Center to protest the Trump Administration’s mass layoff of employees who provide care for veterans.”
Also on March 4, Rep. Sykes addressed economic concerns regarding tariffs imposed by President Trump on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China which took effect that day. She raised questions about how these tariffs might impact individuals and families ” President Trump’s tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China took effect today.”
