Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes announces $12.5 million federal funding for Ohio’s 13th District

Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, who represents Ohio’s 13th district in the U.S. Congress, has highlighted recent federal funding achievements and shared greetings for Ramadan in a series of posts on her official social media account.

On February 18, 2026, Sykes extended well wishes to those observing Ramadan, stating, “Ramadan is a sacred time for reflection and prayer. Ramadan Mubarak to all observing in #OH13!”

Later that day, she announced the return of significant federal resources to her district. In a post dated February 18, 2026, Sykes wrote, “I am proud to have brough back more than $12.5 million to #OH13 in federal funding. These dollars will go towards projects like roads, parks, and public safety initiatives that will improve our local communities.”

The following day, she reiterated this accomplishment by providing additional details about the allocation of funds: “I’m proud to be bringing $12.59 million of your tax dollars back to our community for local projects that will improve roads, public safety facilities, water systems, parks, and fund environmental restoration projects.” (February 19, 2026).

Sykes began representing Ohio’s 13th congressional district in 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 through 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there at age 37, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida.
